persimmons are really a great fruit. the asian varieties dont have seeds. you can get non-astringent varieties if you like firmer fruit. the are very pest resistant, so they are one of the few fruit trees that are easy to grow organically on the east coast. I just picked the last persimmon off my trees this morning. i'm in zone 7 red clay virginia
